but I'm not just referring to this paragraph, I mean, I've been getting this news about liberals and progressives and greens allowing ourselves to be overtake due to respect for the other from reading Chris Hedges to Slajov Zizek. Lakoff wrote last month I think, we have to stop using the verbiage of the right because that reinforces the impression of their rightness by letting them control language. That's got to stop.
"tired of sitting idly by" implies that progressives have not done anything. That's a lame sell.
How about this to consider, that out of respect for diversity, which includes respect for the other, even the most heinous and bigoted tools of Koch's, the left has allowed ourselves to almost be overcome. But it's not too late to fight this "neofeudal corporate plutocracy" to quote Joseph Cardwell, we can occupy the political process, starting with self-education, spreading our values and ideas, and building a resistance movement starting at the precinct level, from the ground up. That's real grass-roots action to counter the mass influx of money coming from the corporations. And honestly, do we have a choice? It's organize and fight or democracy will perish.
I think it's important to build a movement with new blood. It's a bad idea to start out with an introduction that introduces why we can't get it together and instructs newcomers on past history of that. Let's put the face on this that will inspire people to do what needs to be done to be effective. Part of that is not representing ourselves as "needing to come together". Assume that we're together. Because if they're reading this, they've already taken the first step, if not been at it a long time. And those that are veterans, don't need to hear coaching about the past in-fighting, they need leadership. Just my .02 as a noob.
